Pantothenic acid, also known as vitamin b5, is an essential nutrient found in nearly every food. The dietary form of this vitamin is usually calcium pantothenate which is a calcium salt of pantothenic acid. It is commercially synthesized on a large scale from beta-alanine and pantolactone.
