artificial flavors

Vegan? Maybe Vegetarian? Maybe

Classifications are made based on the available commercial supply of the ingredient, and are made based on the criteria on our classifications page.

Artificial flavors are likely to be vegan since they are required by the FDA to not be made from meat, fish, poultry, eggs, dairy products, or fermentation products thereof. However, the synthesis of these chemicals may involve products sourced from animals, and so it's not a guarantee that it is vegan.
